Celebration of Life
Posted On: May 05, 2017
Kenneth E. Nelligan, 69, of Maricopa, AZ, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 at his home after a long courageous battle with cancer.  He was born March 4, 1948, in Olean, NY, the son of William and Susie (Frederick) Nelligan.  He married Karen (Johnston), the love of his life, on February 18, 1967 in Olean, NY.  They moved to Ransomville, NY in 1973, where they lived until moving to Maricopa, AZ in 2015.  Ken was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1966.  He was a proud Teamster of Local #449 for 41 years.  He was Principal Officer of Teamsters Local #449, served on various Union Committees and was President of Teamster Joint Council #46.  His favorite quote was “there is no I in Teamster”.  He retired June of 2011.   Ken enjoyed camping and fishing, with his wife, when he found time.  Nothing brought more of a smile to Ken, then to spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survived by his wife, Karen (Johnston), children, Ruth (Perry) Attwell of Olean, NY, Kim (Ken) Caccamise of Belvidere, IL, Karianne (Patrick) Hehir of Grand Island, NY, Karena (John) Willson of Phoenix, AZ and Kristine (Brian) Rybarczyk of Ransomville, NY; his grandchildren, PJ and Larena Attwell, Rachel, Anthony, Joseph, Steven and Victoria Caccamise, Jill Sammons, Cristie Mokhiber, Jeffery Raby, Courtney and MacKenzie Willson, Nicholas, Anthony, and Emily Hatfield and Chase Rybarczyk; several great-grandchildren; his sisters, Kathy (Gary) Sherwood, Billie (Ralph) Haxton, Eugenia Nelligan Thomas, and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents, his sisters Beverly Greene, Mary Jermy, Joanne Nelligan and his brother James Nelligan.

Ken didn’t want a sad memorial so we will be having an Adult Celebration of Life on June 24, 2017 from 2-7 at the Ransomville Fire Department in Ransomville, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
